re: springsteen endorsement of obama

Celebrity endorsements are how you sell products to otherwise
indifferent consumers. The same companies who hire actors and musicians
to sell you shoes and soda are running the campaigns for all 3 corporate
candidates.

The sad thing is they know what they're doing. If you want to see what
happens to a potential leader who supports real democracy and doesn't
try to sell himself like a product, look at Nader or Gravel. And look at
how many votes they'll win compared to "Grandpa War Hero", "Articulate
Black Friend", and "Strong Women's Rights Champion". Those three are
playing characters. They are acting. They have easily recognized brand
names and very simple PR images and they never leave their scripts. And
that's how to win in America.
